House Update: First Coat of Primer!

As I have mentioned a few times already, we bought a house recently! And not just any house, but a foreclosed on, fixer-upper. Thankfully, nothing too major but still a lot of work nonetheless.

I thought I would go ahead and give an update on where we're at in the process.

Today I started painting! Literally the entire house, inside and out, is going to get a fresh new coat, and I had initially thought that we would be almost done with that by now. It seems like getting ready to paint takes a lot longer than actually painting though. Between appliance and air conditioner malfunctions, a yard being taken over by weeds, holes that needed patching, and Dane being crazy busy at work, I am just now being able to get started!

So today one of my sister's came over and helped me primer Dane's office. Here's a little before and after on today's progress!

Before

I forgot to take my before pictures before I started tearing down wallpaper border!

After!

Yes that's a dining room chair, and yes I used it as a step stool. Good thing it's getting painted too!

I'm so glad to be rid of that blue and red. It already feels so, so much better!

In other news, I've been working on some new card designs for the shop! And also still working out my new branding and logo (which is proving to be more difficult than I originally thought. Maybe I'm just picky). If you follow me on Instagram, you've seen some of the sneak peaks I've shared, like these new art prints!

Things are trucking along around here, even if they aren't trucking as fast as I might like.

I'm also loving this summer weather! I have never considered myself a summer girl, but the older I get, the more that changes. I scored a used patio table at a yard sale a couple weeks ago, and I've been eating most of my meals out there. I love how late the sun stays out, and how great it smells outside all the time. I'm dreaming up tons of fun plans for the next few months, like camping, going to the water park, and getting my patio all set up the way I want it. I will share some plans and inspiration for that soon too!

All in all, things are going pretty good around here. Are there any big plans or projects that  you are working toward this summer? Let me know! I'd love to hear about them :)

Thanks for stopping by!

Get to Work

I am a self proclaimed procrastinator, and I've mentioned this before. And anyone who knows me irl just rolled their eyes and said, " well, duh."

But I have too much on my plate these days, and too many things I want to do, so I am declaring a summer of NO VERY LITTLE procrastination!

Beginning with this lovely little blog of mine. She's seen a lot of theme changes over the years, and a few name changes too (maybe I should do a contest and see if anyone can remember the original name??), but I just have not been crazy about the look it's been sporting lately.

Starting with my logo, I'm working one a bit of a re-branding of my whole, well, brand. There are a few things about it I like, but there are some things that I'm like, "uhhhh, what was I thinking?"

So this space will be getting a face lift, and I've already started preliminary sketches for my new logo. I LOVE pretty things (which should be obvious, because it's in my tag line for Pete's sake!) and my logo just isn't making the cut.

Messy sketches, bad iphone photo!

So, without putting it off, I will be getting to work on sprucing things up, and also adding some of the pile of new designs I have to the shop!

All the while re-modeling my house, finishing my glamper, and having an all-round, awesome, rad summer! Haha!

But also, disclaimer: re-designing a blog is super hard, especially when you know so little about html and css and all of that techy mumbo jumbo. So, while I won't be procrastinating, it still may take a while for me to finish, and if you stop by and see that things are under construction or all out of wack, please bear with me!

Happy Thursday everyone, thanks for stopping by!

Wedding Invites (and a Birthday!)

I'm back!

Things finally seem to have slowed down around here, and I can breathe again!

We still have a lot on our plates, with the house re-model and all, but we can do things at a slower pace with that. Everything doesn't need to be at break neck speed anymore!! Yay!

Ugh, sorry for the exclamation over load! I really do have a problem!

Anyway, since I actually have a little time to spare today, I thought I would share the wedding invitations I designed for my baby sister! She got married a couple weeks ago, and I couldn't be happier for her. Plus, I was so excited for an excuse to do a wedding invite!

The wedding was a simple back front yard affair, and very rustic. My parents own a ranch, and Nikki has always embraced our country background (more than me by a long shot!). So her colors were sage green and lavender and we went with a very rustic/wild flower look that I tried to copy in the invitations. With the whole affair being so laid back, there was no need for a whole "suite," so one basic invite was all I did.

Please excuse the bad photos! They really don't do the color justice. Our last house had awesome southern exposure, which made for much better photos. I fully admit that I am not a great photographer, and unless I have excellent light, my photos really suffer!

Anyway, another detail I really liked was that instead of envelopes, we used paper doilies tied with twine. It really went well with the whole theme, and they looked adorable!

I have to say, I am really hoping to get to do more wedding invitations in the future!

Also, I can't go without mentioning that today is a big day around here in the Meade home! (There go those exclamation points again...)

Today my honey turns 30!!

I think he's aging very well, but then again, I may be a little biased ;)

We were able to celebrate last weekend at our annual camping trip with a lot of our friends and family, and he doesn't know it yet, but I'm sending him off with a couple of his buddies for a surprise camping trip this weekend too!

And now, since I promised him ribs for his birthday dinner, I had better go make good on that.

Thanks for stopping by!

Life Has Been a Whirlwind

I have been thinking over and over again for the last several months that I need to get on here and share an update. I honestly can't remember the last time I posted (and I forgot to look, maybe Valentine's?).

Things have gotten pretty crazy around here, and there just hasn't been the time! I had a list of different posts I wanted to do, and projects to share, but it got too hectic.

So I thought I'd swing by real quick with an update!

Those of you who know me irl already know how I have heaped my plate to ridiculous heights, so feel free to disregard this post ;).

We bought a house (just like we hoped!) about a month ago, so we are moving in the very near future, possibly as soon as next weekend! And I would like to know, is anyone out there a "tidy" packer?? Because I most certainly am not!

My house has looked like a tornado ran through it ever since I started the packing process! There are half packed boxes, piles of things I've dug out of closets, and all kinds of random doo-dads that I don't know where to put.

It makes cleaning anything a much bigger chore, and I've been in that awkward in between stage where I should probably pack more, but I don't want to pack something I will need. So things are half in/half out and everything's a disaster! This week things should start to even out a bit though, because it's almost to the point where everything needs to be in a box, regardless of use.

I also am pretty bummed to say that I did not get any of my Mother's and Father's Day cards in the shop :( I had a few designs that I was pretty happy with, but I just have not had the time to get them past the drawing stage. I guess I will have to save them for next year.

I did, however, make my little sister's wedding invitations, so I will be sharing those soon! Or, as soon as things start to simmer down a bit around here. The wedding is two weeks away and I'm so excited! I'm making my bridesmaid's dress, and I am 'thisclose' to being done with it. That will be a big tick off of my checklist!

Then at the end of the month, we will be going on our annual camping trip, and I'm working to get my camper finished (at least mostly) before then.

If all goes well, I should have some fun posts to share in the future of all the things I have been working on lately! Hopefully that will make up for the radio silence that has been going on around here.

I also have some plans for the shop that I will be working on this summer, which I am very excited about! I can't wait to get started and show you all :)

I hope you all have a happy Monday, and thanks for taking the time to read this whole novel. Until next time!
