What a Beautiful Fall Season + a Photoshoot

Happy November!

It seemed like it took a while (September is always warmer than I'd like), but a few weeks ago fall finally decided to arrive! And it arrived big time. I think southern Oregon is beautiful all the time, but this year and this season it seems exceptionally so! I've hit up the pumpkin patch with my sisters, and taken some pretty photos of all the beautiful trees.

The leaves started changing and when they did they went fast. Everywhere you go these days, the trees are glowing red, orange, and yellow. And the smell! I love the smell of fall. Fresh, crisp, and a hint of smoke as the fire season ends and people start to do controlled burns again. It's all just so perfect and I'm soaking it all in (while simultaneously singing Christmas songs all day long, haha!).

And as most of you know, with fall every year, comes our annual fall photo! Since it's my favorite season, and I always want a new picture for our Christmas cards, it's become a tradition. Some years it's just a simple selfie, (and last year I skipped the card and did a video!) but this year my super talented friend took them for us :)

A couple of weeks ago our good friends Alan and Toni got to come to town and see us, and we had a great week hanging out with them! It was like we were on vacation too! We got to take them around town, show them all of our favorite places and eat way too much good food haha. We spent a night at the coast with them, and Toni and I did a little photo trade with each other (with her good camera). They're so cute, and I loved how theirs turned out. You can go see them here.

I didn't want a full on shoot, since I only needed one photo, but we got several good ones to choose from. I was originally going to just do it myself, but she offered and I figured she would be a million times better than me trying to use my phone, haha! So we dolled up and ran out to our back yard one evening while they were here. The oak trees were turning a beautiful golden yellow and I definitely got that fall look I was going for.

She even took a couple of just me, so hello new headshot!

Now I just need to pick the one I'm using!

Alright, I hope you all have a fantastic rest of your day, and I'm off to work on some new cards and prints that will be in the shop soon! Thanks for stopping by!

The Sweetest Little Puppies!

I have some fun news for you all today! A few weeks ago, my little Lemon Bean became a mommy!

She had two little sweet baby girls, who I've nicknamed Apricot and Blackberry :) But mostly I call them both fatty, haha! (Even though Blackberry is WAY bigger than Apricot. She's outgrown her like crazy!) They're little schnoodles, with a bit more emphasis on the poodle than schnauzer, since Lemon is half and half, but their daddy is a purebred toy poodle!

Then last week I was lucky enough to get a visit from my friend Toni. She flew in from Idaho to see me and while she was here we had a little fun!

She's an amazing photographer with a lot of experience photographing newborns and babies (go check out her blog to see!), so we decided to have a little puppy photoshoot! Prepare for picture (and cuteness!) overload...

They turned out so adorable, it's almost a little ridiculous. I just want to squeeze their little chubby faces so hard when I look at these!

She also helped me get some much needed decorating done in my house. Toni's a real go-getter, so she's great motivation for me haha. Now my house is cozy and all decked out for Christmas, and I'll be sharing that later this week :)

How's your Christmas prep going? Are the halls decked and carols playing in the background like it is here, or have you been putting it off? Let me know!

Thanks for stopping by!

What Winter Blues? Snowy Mountain Photoshoot with Home Sweetly Home!

Usually January seems to drag on forever, bleak and dreary and cold!

I found the best way to battle those winter blues is to go up into the mountains and play in the snow! And a fun photoshoot doesn't hurt either ;)

These were taken by one of my best friends, Toni, who blogs over at Home Sweetly Home. She shares all kinds of stuff, like recipes, decor and cleaning tips, and her growing photography skills! Since I needed some new images for my branding, and we were up in such a gorgeous location, it was a win-win situation!

We had so much fun being silly and romping through the snow to find the best shots, and we both were over the moon with the results! It was snowing the entire time we were out, so my curled hair lasted all of about three minutes, but it made for gorgeous snow speckled photos. Since I typically rock a top knot most days, it seemed fitting that I had to throw it up for these.

I'll be using these images to update my shop, blog, and social media very soon, and everything will be getting a little facelift! So, keep an eye out for that in the near, near future!

Toni did such an awesome job with these photos, and you can see more from the shoot over at her blog!

Thanks for stopping by all!

The Sweetest Little Project

Earlier this fall I got the chance to work on a very special project for a very special friend of mine!

One of my best friends had a baby girl at the end of August, and as a gift to her, I designed her baby announcements! It was so much fun to do, and with an adorable little face gracing the front, I figured it would be impossible for them not to turn out.

So here is my first sneak peak of some of what I've been working these past few months!

Isn't she just precious?

I designed the whole layout of the announcement. I used a combination of hand lettering and calligraphy for the information and I also illustrated the flower details. The photo was taken by another good friend of ours, Lisa from Lisa Eells Photography.

I was really happy with how it turned out, and more importantly, so was my friend!

Well, there you have it, my first big hand lettered project. Thank you all for stopping by, and I hope you have a fantastic day!

It's Our Anniversary Again!

Well, actually yesterday was.

But I feel like I haven't really blogged much since I wrote about our last anniversary!

This year marks six years since we've been married. We've had our bumps along the road, like everyone does, but we all know that bumps just make you stronger.

I love planning fun things for us to do, and I love to go all out. It works really well, because there's not much I enjoy more than planning an event (whether it's a party, vacation, or date night), and watching an idea unfold is almost as exciting to me as the actual occasion!

This year, I wanted to do a picnic, even though that's similar to what we did last year. This time though, I wanted to go somewhere special, instead of staying at home.

Since our move to Idaho, we have loved spending time in Boise. One thing that we haven't gotten to do yet though, was hike in the foothills. I decided to find the spot with the best views, and go there to have a picnic, so off to Tablerock we went!

I managed to keep it a surprise until we got to the trail head, and we had a bunch of goodies packed in back packs to take up the hill.

Now, I figure that I'm in pretty decent shape. I work out and go to the gym pretty regularly, and I didn't think the hill would be any big deal. Oh, so it takes most people an hour to climb to the top? Pshhh, well we would probably do it in 45 minutes, tops!

Hahaha!

Let's just say, that trail knocked me down a couple pegs....

Anyway, after about an hour (and a whole lot of stops for rest), we made it to the top. Right in time to catch the sunset! The views were stunning, and it was definitely worth the climb.

Yes, this is his annoyed face, in case you were wondering ;) he doesn't like pictures

After we watched the sun go down, with all of the other sunset chasers and their cameras, we found a quieter spot nearby and set up our picnic. I went with all the works! Italian themed, sandwiches, chocolate, strawberries, candles...you get the gist.

And we watched as it got darker and darker, and the lights of Boise glowed brighter and brighter.

It was such a nice, relaxing dinner, even if it took so much work to get there! It's definitely somewhere we would like to go again.

I would recommend it to anyone, because you really can't beat the view. One bit of advice though: if you're coming down after dark, like we were, don't forget to bring a flashlight that works! It's a challenging trek when you can't see where you're going. Ooops!

Now, I'm going to continue to lay around and rest my sore muscles, because the gym is going to come too soon! Enjoy this last evening of the weekend!

Sunday Currently: Volume 21

Good morning all! How was your Fourth of July weekend?

We had a great time, and my best friend Kayla came over to see me! We went swimming, bought giant sparklers, and spent a day at the coast. I couldn't have asked for a better way to spend our weekend!

Reading  I bought an Us magazine, which I never do, and that has been the most enthralling reading I've done all week! There was a time in my life when I never thought that I would become that girl who only reads magazines (and loves celeb gossip a little too much). I'm not sure exactly when that happened, but I suppose I'm not in too much of a hurry to change it at the moment.
Writing  Obviously I didn't write much last week! Life just gets busy, and I was so silly to think that it would slow down this summer. But with our friends here, I've been getting some material for future posts!
Listening  I've had All the Little Lights by Passenger on repeat all week. I always do that. I find something I love, and I just listen to it until I can't hardly stand it anymore! I am absolutely loving this album though. I think I have something for those Brit singers! (ie, Mumford & Sons, Ed Sheeran, and Passenger types, not One Direction types, ha!)
Thinking  About how stinking tired I am this morning! We have been staying up way too late this weekend, and my dog has woken us up early with his barking every. Single. Morning. Usually it's around seven or so, but he really out did himself today, and started in at six.
Smelling  Outside. Probably one of my favorite things of summer is having the house opened up at night, and that amazing fresh smell that comes in in the mornings.
Wishing  For our friends to have a safe drive home today!
Hoping  To eat perfectly today. I am so sluggish and bloated after these last few days, and I could really use a clean eating day.
Loving  Side braids. I've had my hair in one so many times this week! I think I've finally perfected it (for me) and it's been a great way to do my dirty hair when it's driving me nuts.
Wanting  My coffee. Like right now! I'm going to meet my best friend for coffee this morning before she leaves town, but man, I could use some of that right at this moment I think.
Feeling  Bittersweet. We had such a fun weekend, but my best friend is leaving and that always makes me a little sad. I will be seeing her again in about a month though, so I can't be too sad I suppose!
Clicking  Not much at all. I've been browsing a lot of facebook and pinterest, and that is about it.

As usual, I'm linking up with Lauren :)

Pool Days and Photographs

Hot, hot, hot!

That's what it's been like around here lately. Most likely, it's hot where ever you are too, so I hope you're finding a way to stay out of the heat! I don't have ac in my car, so that's pretty much the worst, but as long as I spend most of the day in my house, then I'm good. This week, though, I'm extra good. Because I have access to this:

Oh yes, I'm definitely a spoiled girl! Usually, for a couple weeks out of every summer, my in-laws' neighbors are gone during the day, so we get use of the pool! It's pretty much the best pool ever, and my father-in-law actually put it in. The house is actually the one my husband grew up in, and they've kept on really good terms with the new owners. I guess it pays to be nice to your neighbors!

So, obviously the heat isn't affecting me as much as some, and I must say that my tan is looking fabulous!

Another thing I've been up to lately has been messing around with my camera. I finally started tinkering with the programmable settings, and while I still don't really have a clue what I'm doing, I've been able to get some neat looking pictures.

So, since I should be cleaning right now, instead of blogging, I'll just leave you with some of my favorites! Happy middle of the week, and I hope you all find ways to keep cool. Maybe go use your neighbors pool!
