Sunday Currently: Volume 1

Reading  Lots and lots of blogs! I can't seem to get enough. I've been thinking that I need to track down a book to read though, it's been a little while since I read any. I always end up with the most ridiculous library fines though! It is almost impossible for me to return anything on time, so maybe I should search my own personal collection for now.
Writing  Blog post after blog post. I've got some in the works at the moment, and there's been some brain storming going on. I'm really enjoying it, and I'm hoping to keep up that forward momentum!
Listening  To my washer going. Last minute laundry, because of course the outfit I wanted to wear today would be dirty. I'm also listening to some Mindy Gledhill on Spotify. I just recently discovered her music, and I love it! I'll probably be sharing one of my favorites of her's at some point.
Thinking  About my to do list for the day. It's coming along. I've also been thinking about the goal I had when I was in high school. How I wanted to be a writer. Well that's definitely what I'm doing now, but I want to start looking into getting something published. I don't know, we'll see. It's just a thought at the moment, but there are so many places on the web where someone could have an article or story published!
Smelling  The coffee brewing. I need it so badly this morning! Way too late of a night, coupled with an early-ish morning, means I'm running on just under six hours today. Whoop, whoop! Oh and also the bacon I cooked last night, which is grossing me out. That smell lingers worse than any other, and I don't find it to be a good thing.
Wishing  I had a little more seating in the family room. Let's hope some people don't mind sitting on the floor to watch the game....
Hoping  That the San Fransisco 49ers win in Superbowl today! I haven't always been big on watching football, or even kept up with the Niners much at all, but I've always considered myself a fan. They were the team I chose to support as a kid, so when it comes to pro football, that's who I always root for. Turns out, Dane shares that same story! So when they were in the playoffs we made sure to tune in, and we're both hoping they can pull a win! (We do watch a lot of college football though, so I definitely know my way around the game)
Wearing  My scuzzy old pajamas, of course! It's morning time, and I am not ready to do for the day. I wish I was wearing some of my nicer pjs though. It is amazing how much less of a slob you feel like when you are dressed in something classy and cute, as opposed to something that doesn't fit and is all stretched out and baggy!
Loving  That Valentine's day is coming up! Technically our date Friday night was supposed to be for that (kind of) but I plan on doing a fun night in on the actual date. I'll brush off my gourmet cooking skills and make something fancy, light some candles, and try to make a romantic evening for us here at home.
Wanting  The magical house fairy to come and clean my bathroom for me, so I don't have to do it! I used to say that dishes were my least favorite household chore, but I it's actually cleaning the bathroom.
Needing  A nap, I think. I could just go crawl back into bed right now.... Better drink more coffee!
Feeling  Pretty happy that I took a shower last night before bed, because there's no way I would have had time to take one this morning! I love knowing I don't have to do a lot to get ready to go. I think I have a tendency to be pretty high maintenance sometimes, it takes me so stinking long to get ready to go anywhere!
Clicking  Here. I just started trying the oil cleansing method for cleaning my face, and here's where I got most of my information. I also got some tips from my friend Molly, from Mae Live Free. She's been doing it for a year now! We'll see how it goes, so far so good.

Linking up today for the first time with Lauren from siddathornton!

What a Spaz

Yes, that would be me. The one who is up at one o'clock in the morning getting ready to have people over. I've been up cooking and cleaning, because I'm the girl who always waits until the last minute to do everything! I still have to shower before bed.... Ugh.

Tomorrow will be coming too soon though. I may have been doing stuff tonight, but I didn't get everything done I wanted. I'm starting to get irritated with myself too, because my sleep schedule has gotten later and later all week long. It will definitely be kicking me in the rear in the morning! Oh well, I suppose I have no room to complain, seeing as this is all self induced!

So here's a fun late night picture of my dark circles and dirty hair. Goodnight all!

Friday Date Night: Wheeee!

That is the sound I wanted to make several times yesterday evening! But since I'm an adult, I figured squealing like a little girl all the way around the rink was not the mature thing to do...so I did it in my head!

Anyway, we had what was probably one of our most fun date nights ever last night. At least it felt that way to me! And we go on a lot of date nights. About a month ago we made plans to go to Ashland and go ice skating at their outdoor rink. It's the closest crunchy, granola, artsy town we live by, and we don't make it there a lot. We also have never been ice skating as a couple in our five and a half years of togetherness, which probably doesn't seem that odd to some people. But I grew up skating, if not on a regular basis, at least once in a while. We had a pond that would freeze over some winters, and my siblings and I loved going out and skating! I'm not that great at it, I can't do anything very cool, but I can skate around a rink without falling on my face, and it's just such exhilarating fun! It bums me out a little that I don't get to do it all the time.

We headed out last night planning on a pretty low key affair. We didn't do a big dinner out, we do that often enough in here in town. We drove into Ashland and ate at their Pita Pit (for those of you who don't know, it's like Subway, but with pitas and it's so much better!) and then grabbed some coffee. Actually, I grabbed some, because I had to use the little ladies room, and I feel so guilty not buying something if I use a store's facilities. I get annoyed with myself sometimes for feeling this way. I always end up spending more money and consuming more calories than if I could just pee and run! I guess that's what happens when you're a nice person (ha!). In this case it was a Starbucks, but it ended up making for a nice little pre-skate warm up.

The rink was really close to the downtown area, and we probably could have walked, but walking around towns I don't know very well after dark freaks me out! So I made Dane drive us. It's part of the city parks department, so it is right next to one of the town's largest parks. It was really nice, there were trees all along the back of the rink, and being outside was just so much better than being inside a big ugly building. We stayed and skated for almost two hours, which was awesome. I think Dane had more fun than he thought he would (obviously he was not as excited about the whole thing as I was, but he's such a sweetie that he took me anyway). I had such a blast!

I was also that annoying person getting in everybody else's way while I was trying to play photographer! I took a lot of pictures, and of course most of them sucked. As you can probably figure, the lighting was not great with it being night time and all, but I got a few decent ones to share with you.

After we called it a night on the skating, we walked around the town a little bit, trying to find somewhere to warm up. We found this cute restaurant/sports pub called Louie's, so we got some coffee and soup, and that delicious dessert there at the bottom of the page. I love me some chocolate lava cake!

I love that even after being together as long as we have, we can still go out and have fun like this. It's like we're dating, only better, because we're so much closer to each other now. Being married to Dane is like being with my best friend all the time! I'm so happy that I get to have him around, and that he loves me enough to take me out and do things like ice skating, even if it's not something he really wants to do. It's times like this that make me realize how truly blessed and happy I really am!

Ok, here's the part I'm sure you'd rather get to, the pictures! And thank you if you took the time to read that entire novel I just wrote :) I hope you all have a great rest of your weekend. Oh and happy Superbowl Sunday to you too! GO NINERS!!

Happies and Crappies Friday Link-Up

Scissors and a Whisk: Happies and Crappies Link Up

Linking up today with Sarah and Stephanie for Happies and Crappies!

Happies

1. I have been able to keep up on my posts really well this week! I'm feeling so much more drive and focus when it comes to writing and coming up with ideas. I hope I can keep this forward momentum up!

2. Getting my hair done was a major win for my week. I'm going to have to watch how often I wash it though, because I don't want it to fade too quickly. I guess this means I'll have to start practicing those dirty hair buns more often. It's totally worth it though, and I'm still loving how it turned out!

3. I'm still riding high off of my awesome thrift store finds! Mirrors are one of my favorite home accessories. I just don't think you can have too many. I love finding good deals, and now going thrift store shopping always makes me think of Macklemore and Lewis! (Not a very nice song, but funny and catchy nonetheless)

4. After having been planned for a month, my date night with Dane is finally here! Not that it's been that long since we've had a date night, but tonight he has promised to take me ice skating! There is a (supposedly) sweet outdoor rink in a nearby town, and we're going there for the first time. It's also going to be the first time we've ever ice skated together period, so I'm sure it will be a blast. You can probably expect an upcoming post about it!

5. Super Bowl Sunday is only two days away, and our 49ers are playing! Whoop, whoop! We're going to have some friends over to have lunch and watch the game, so I'm pretty excited. And crossing my fingers that the Niners come out champions!

Crappies

1. Sometimes I read other blogs and I just can't believe how amazingly talented these women are. It makes me wonder if I really have it in me to create a successful blog that people will want to read. It doesn't help when I start to feel overwhelmed by all of the stuff I don't know about blogging!

2. Still having zero motivation to work out lately. No matter what I do, I can't seem to get my foot out the door, whether its to the gym or just on the pavement. I know the longer I go though, the harder it's going to be to get back in my groove.

3. This is not so much a crappie for me, but I'm bummed for Dane. He has been wanting to go fishing all week, but the river and the fish just aren't cooperating. Sounds like nobody we know is having any luck, so he probably won't get to go this weekend like he had hoped. Good thing fishing season lasts a couple of months!
