What She Wears!

Today I came across this link-up, and I just had to join! I would like to share more outfit posts with you guys, and I feel like this is the perfect way to start!

It's a once a month link-up, based around a theme, and it's posted on the first Tuesday each month. This month's theme is date night!

Well, it just so happens that we went on a date night last weekend!

When we go out, I don't always get super dressed up. A lot of times I'll wear jeans, or whatever feels comfortable. Sometimes I throw on heels, sometimes I'll stay in flats. Since the weather has been so nice, I have been obsessed with maxi dresses and skirts!

There is just nothing more comfortable than a maxi skirt, and I still feel kind of dressed up in one. Just throw on some jewelry and go! Plus, Dane thinks I look pretty cute in them too, so that's a bonus!

A lot of times our date nights will just be a dinner out. It's just the two of us, so every time we go out is pretty much a date night! I'm perfectly fine with that though, because we get to enjoy good food, hang out, and just have a good time out of the house. We went to our favorite downtown restaurant on Friday night, and then walked around town for a little while after. It was so relaxing and fun! It's one of my favorite ways to spend a weekend night (or any night really) with Dane.

So excited to be linking up with all of these lovely ladies featured on this button (Shabby Loves Chic and A Rambling Fancy are where I heard it first)! Go check out how they dress on their date nights, and link up if you'd like! I hear next week is when the June theme will be announced, so definitely check in with them if you'd like to know.

Falling For Friday

Friday Doubles

Since it's Friday, I thought, "Why not go for a double post?" Seems like a good idea to me!

You see, most of the clothes that I own are not very new. Or at least not new enough that I could link to the items if someone wanted to buy them. Then I realized that I do own one outfit that is!

I love this skirt. As some of you may remember, I love the store Romy, which is where I bought this dress. It really is one of the best stores around, in my opinion. I love how they carry cute, decent, feminine pieces. And if you live in the Pacific Northwest, odds are there is a location in a mall or shopping center near you!

If not, there's always online.

Anyways, back to that skirt. It was my Easter purchase, and I can't get enough of it!

Tank, JC Penney; Skirt, Romy; Sandals, Target.
(Excuse my pastiness)

Also, love me some JC Penney and Target.

So there you have it, my double feature of the day! Again, I hope you all have a great weekend, and I will see you all around these parts on Sunday!

Sunday Currently: Volume 12

Hey, I'm actually wearing real clothes as I write this today!

Gotta love crappy selfies in dirty mirrors! Dress (old) from Romy. Pretty much my favorite store.

Reading  I still haven't started reading Pride and Prejudice yet! I'm being a total slacker on the reading front. Meanwhile, it's due back at the library in just a couple of weeks. I'm not sure that I'm going to make it.
Writing  I haven't done much for writing lately either. I even skipped my Happies and Crappies link up on Friday! I've been so busy lately that I haven't had a lot of time to devote to writing. And any time that I have had has gone towards playing around with graphics editing. You guys, I think I might have a problem!
Listening  To my washing machine run, and to some Vanessa Carlton on Spotify. I love her song "Carousel," from Rabbits on the Run, and I just set it as my ring tone on my new phone! (Yes, we found a loophole! We were able to get new phones for cheap, while still holding onto our renewal option on our plan! Can I get a "what, what!")
Thinking  That even though I have had a blast working these last few weeks, I'm happy to be getting a little break. I will have a chance to get caught up on some cleaning, play with my puppy some more, and go visit my grandparents! It should be a good week.
Smelling  Nothing at the moment. My house smell I guess? Which, honestly, isn't too great at the moment, ha! I should open up all my windows, because it is absolutely gorgeous outside today!
Wishing  Dinner would make itself. But it won't, so I need to go get it done. I have been planning on making burgers for days now, and it just hasn't happened, so I'm off to do that as soon as this is posted!
Hoping  To hold onto this feeling of peace and contentment that I have today. Sundays tend to be good for me, and I wish I could keep this feeling around all week long! It's something I'm definitely going to work on.
Loving  This fantastic weather we've been having. We had our fair share of rain these last few weeks, but the sun is out and it looks like it's here to stay for a while. Our forecast is showing eighty by Wednesday, and I'm so excited! I may even have to start laying out in my yard, and get my tan on.
Wanting  To eat! I'm hungry, so I need to wrap this up.
Needing  Nothing. Today is a good day, and all I need is to soak it up!
Feeling  Well, to summarize, happy, peaceful, fantastic, and hungry! I guess I should remember to save some of how I'm feeling for this last one, ha!
Clicking  On so many things. One thing I loved from earlier in the week was this post by Kristen at All in my Twenties. I loved her take on the whole SAHM struggle. I also just read this article this morning from Hello Giggles. I thought it was such an interesting topic, especially for me, because I feel like I am kind of in the middle of that whole situation right now. I'm married, but I don't have kids, so where does that put me with my friends who are in different stages of life than me? Good food for thought!

I hope you all have a great week, and of course I'm linking up with Lauren

P.S.- What do you all think of the (second) new look?

Oh How Pinteresting Wednedsay

It's Wednesday again! Time for another round of OHP!

I'm still feeling that Spring bug, so most of these pins have that feel. Also, this first pin? Some of you may recognize her! That would be Cara from maskCARA! I am seriously in love with this girl's site,  especially for all things beauty!

Lately I have been all about getting my fake tan on, so I stumbled onto her post at just the right time! She has some really great tips on how to use self tanner, and some product recommendations that aren't going to break the bank. So if this Spring weather has you itching to be tan like me, then you'll definitely want to click on this pin!

Hope you're all having a great day, and you know what Wednesday means? Friday is only a couple days away! Boo-ya! (yes, I do realize that catchphrase is out of date, ha!) So, here's to us all making it until the weekend!

Oh How Pinteresting Wednesday

It's starting to really feel like Spring around here these days! Today, we're supposed to hit seventy! I know, I know, if you're still in the snow right now you're probably going to despise me. But, I'm sure within the next couple of weeks we'll get a good dose of the rain that the Pacific Northwest is so famous for.

In the mean time though, I have really been enjoying this sun and warmer weather. I thought that today I would share some pins that scream Spring! Whether you're lucky enough to be living in warmer weather like me, or you're still stuck with a foot (or two) of snow on the ground, maybe these will help make your day a bit cheerier! Hopefully Spring will be here in full force for all of us.

Sunday Currently: Volume 5

Reading  Not much. Mostly just blogs, and some fitness magazines! I've been getting subscriptions to Self, Fitness, and Shape for a few years now. I really like them, I just wish they would give me a little more motivation sometimes! I think I've gotten desensitized to their motivating powers! I do find good information though, so when I do decide to get healthier (like I am right now) I have the right tools available.
Writing  I wrote my first attempt at a funny post! I never realized how hard it would be. I usually hope that people like what I write, but if they don't that's fine too. With humor though, it was different. I was really concerned with putting it into the right words. Even the funniest story can fall flat if it's not told right! My best friend read it though, and even though she's a little biased (she was part of the story), she said she laughed so hard she cried! That's good enough for me!
Listening  My coffee just beeped at me! Which means I can finally have some. Other than that, nothing right now. Just the bathroom fan I forgot to turn off. For music though, I heard a really good song earlier this week, which features my friend Molly! She sang background to her uncle, who performs under the name City Bear. The song is called "Nell" and you can listen to it here.
Thinking  About some of the projects I want to do around here. I know I've mentioned before how long my list is, but I feel really optomistic that we're going to start making a dent in it this year. Dane is working on our shop right now, building shelving and organizing inside. Then it's time to paint the outside, so it matches the house! My next couple of projects will be planting my flower beds (hydreangeas are a must!) and doing the cutting in on the outside of the house. It's going on four years since we started painting, and it's still not finished!
Smelling  Nothing still. I've got those left over symptoms that hang on, even when you're really not sick anymore. Blowing my nose and coughing are still here, but I feel better this weekend. Being sick really put a dent into my training schedule for my 5k! I waited until the last minute, and gave myself just enough time to fit it in before the race. Well, now I'm a week off, and I don't want to start running until my lungs are totally clear. Bleh! I may not be running it this year after all.
Wearing  My pajamas, again. I think I'm going to start cutting this one out, unless I actually put on real clothes. I always write this first thing in the morning, before I shower and get ready for church. I guess I could tell you what I plan on wearing later? I just bought an adorable little summer dress, but I'm busting it out early. It's a really vibrant, burnt-ish orange (I suck at describing colors) and the top has all these little flowers of the same color and fabric sewn on. It's a subtle, but very pretty, feminine detail!
Loving  Mexican food. It's one of my absolute favorites, and I like to make it on a semi-regular basis. I made chicken fajitas last night, and they were awesome! I actually didn't eat mine with a tortilla though, because I'm tyring to cut back on my carbs again. I just eat them with a fork, and a side of avacado and sour cream! Yum!
Wanting  To shed a few pounds. I always want this, but I finally decided to jump on the wagon again, and start eating healthier. Eating low carb really works for me, and when I stick to it I see really good results! Plus, I always feel better, and the less sugar I eat, the less I crave it. Well, I decided to join my parents in No Dessert March, so we'll see how it goes. Wish me luck!
Needing  To wash my hair! It's been a few days, and it's a total grease bomb. I should have washed it last night, but my hair just will not cooperate unless it's freshly washed right before I style it. Sleeping on it does it no favors whatsoever!
Feeling  Sore! I did a lot of yard work yesterday. I prepped my front flower beds, and mowed the yard. Then I swept my sidewalks off. Everything was looking pretty shabby. We just topped our tree, and there were sticks everywhere! Our beds have always been a disaster, and except for the rosebush that was already there, one of them has never had anything planted in it. Besides weeds. Curb appeal is usually lacking a lot at our house! Not anymore though. There's still nothing planted, but there are no more weeds, and everything looks nice and clean. Definitely worth the sore shoulders and back I have today.
Clicking  On a lot of Jenna Marbles videos lately. I probably shouldn't admit that, because those of you that know who she is, know how raunchy and foul mouthed her videos are! She's is just so funny though! It's kind of a guilty pleasure of mine, I'll watch them once in a while. If you don't mind hearing some inappropriate stuff, you should watch this one. It's hilarious! But if that bothers you, definitely don't watch any of her stuff!

Seeing Pink, and a Little Something for Your Funny Bone

I know, you're probably thinking "What's going on? This isn't Wednesday," but don't worry. I just wanted to show you all some examples of one of my favorite looks for spring and summer! I am so in love with pink pants, more than you even know! I realize that they are super trendy, and I probably wouldn't be able to wear them a lot before they were no longer cool, but that's ok because I don't claim to be super cool anyways!

Personally, I've been leaning more towards the lighter pinks, like the ones on Cameron Diaz. After seeing a lot of cute pictures of brighter and darker ones though, I'm not so sure. I guess I will have to shop around a bit, because price is a pretty big factor too. Honestly, I don't plan on spending more than twenty bucks, and if I could find some cheaper that would be great! Either way, whether I go with a fun hot pink or the soft dusty pink, I plan on rocking some all spring and summer long!

*     *     *     *     *

Speaking of pants, this is mostly unrelated, but I remembered a funny story today that I wanted to share with you all! I was telling my mother-in-law about it this afternoon, and we were dying! I figured if it's still as funny today as it was then, I should give some other people a good laugh!

Let's rewind a couple years. I was in Idaho for the weekend, with Dane, and we were going to head out on the town with our good friends, Jordan and Kayla. For those of you who know us all, you know that we do almost everything together when we have the opportunity. The guys have been friends all their lives, and so have Kayla and I.

Now, I suppose I am probably considered to be petite, but mostly just because I'm short. I roll in just under 5"3, but I'm not the skinniest girl around. At this time, I was at a healthy weight for me (about ten pounds lighter than my current weight, boo!). Kayla, though, is petite in every sense. The girl is a good three inches shorter and, at that time, a good twenty pounds lighter. As a short person, it's nice to have someone around who makes you feel taller!

On this particular night, we wanted to get all dressed up. And by all dressed up, I mean jeans, black t-shirts, and heels. Yeah, we know we classy!

Well, all of the jeans I had at the time just would not work. Why, may you ask? Because most of my pants were lady jeans. Not mom jeans, like you probably just thought, but lady jeans. From the misses section, not the juniors, and the perfect length for wearing with flats, they wouldn't drag the ground. Nice and clean. No fun stitching or washes, and definitely no distressing. Plus, too short to wear with my five inch heels! Not jeans that your typical twenty-one year old wants to wear.

It had been a while since I had tried to wear anything of Kayla's, and there was a time when I probably could have gotten away with it.

This night was not one of those times.

Like any good bff, she was super encouraging. "Oh sure, you could totally fit in something, what size do you wear? Oh that's fine, it'll work. Just try these ones on, I never wear them. They're just a little too big. They'll totally fit you, and then you can just keep them. They're going to look so cute!"

And that's one reason why I love this girl. She's so sweet.

Needless to say, they did NOT fit. But you probably already saw that coming. What you probably weren't expecting was leg muffin top, or what I like to call, the thing you are never meant to see!
Trust me, it was bad. You see, these jeans were pretty worn, and they had started out with that typical distressing you see these days. The rips, the faded look. Well, one of those rips was bigger than it was supposed to be. Just below the crotch line, it was a huge hole, and it was only on one side. Right smack dab in the middle of the thigh.

I was able to get the pants up. Barely. There was a lot of jumping around involved, and it was a challenge, but I succeeded. At that point I was thinking "so far so good." I was then able to get them zipped up by doing the whole "lay on the bed and suck it in" thing. Triumph! It was when I stood up that reality sunk in. All of the fat in my leg was doing it's best to squeeze out of that one hole! You have never seen anything so ugly in all your life!

Of course, we were a mess. We could both barely stand up, we were laughing so hard! What else are you supposed to do when you see something like that? I wish I had a picture, but you'll just have to try to imagine it. One leg looked ok, and without the hole I maybe could have pulled them off. They were definitely painted on, and it was them being so tight that made it look all the worse. Imagine a slim looking leg, everything all sucked in, with a huge bulge trying to escape, right on the widest, front part of my thigh!

So there's me, trying to pull the edges of the hole, trying to cover it up a little and having no success. That fat just wanted out! And Kayla, "Um, yeah you definitely can't wear those," while we are laughing so hard we can barely breathe! It seems like we tried something with water, because you know water makes jeans relax a bit? Nope, it doesn't. And there is just no sucking in leg fat!

As you can expect, I ended up wearing my boring old lady jeans and flip flops.. At least I was comfortable, right? And when I got home from our trip, I went right to the store, and bought some "fun" jeans that actually fit!

It was an experience though, and it makes for a great story! "Oh hey, remember that time I had leg muffin top?" Yeah...

So, did you ever have any clothing fiascoes like this? Were you lucky enough to figure it out before going out in public? Let me know in the comments, or better yet, write your own post! And sorry for the novel, but hopefully you got a good laugh and it was worth it!

Goodnight all! :)
